2. His Dark Materials triology (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass) by Philip Pullman

3. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson

4. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

5. A Gathering of Finches by Jane Kirkpatrick

6. A Reason for Hope by Jane Goodall

7. Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

8. Night by Elie Wiesel

9. My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George

10. Eva by Peter Dickenson

11. Island fo the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell

12. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

13. Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes

  1. My daughter loves the Phillip Pullman series.
Maybe you guys should trade off every 100 or so swimming. We do that in our group swims. We even do that if it's only two of us- that way the load is shared and the drafting is shared, plus the lead gets a 3-5 second rest as the others go by at the trade-off.

  2. I like how you have the tabs on the top of your page, that's neat.

  3. Makita, I'm reading Bridge to Terabithia now. My daughter just finished it and she said it was so good, but a little sad.

You are such a talented swimmer, runner, mom! I'm in awe! Keep up the great work you do. I'm glad your DD wasn't hurt when ya' hit the mailbox.

Have a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY weekend!

  4. How remiss of you! Your list has no books about database design.

  5. i love bridge to terabithia!!!

island of the blue dolphins, not so much. i remember having to read a lot of stranded on an island books in school...

  6. Hmm guess we don't have the same reading lists!! Outside of the first book I don't think I've ever heard of these. Maybe we should swap lists of what we would suggest the other read based on our favorites lists. Well my tastes can sometimes be questionable based on some people's feed back.
